SIP Journal

What this page is for?

Hi! This is Chelsea Tan from Raffles' Girls Secondary and this page will be on my science project, SIP.   The task for this project is below...

TASK
Students are required to  design a scientific experiment – either working on an investigative type or an
inventive type of project.
You need to conduct a trial experiment or work on a prototype to test your experimental design.

Your experiment can be associated with Physics, Chemistry, Biology or any other areas of science.

AIM
• To identify relevant background research to formulate hypothesis or identify problem.
• To plan and carry out trial experiment that enable hypothesis testing or construct prototype to
problem solve.
• To provide research in areas of science beyond the scope of the class.
• To strengthen student interest and motivation in science

After much contemplation, i decided that i would embark on an investigative type experiment.

Criteria for Investigative type experiment:
1. conduct relevant background research on an area of interest.
2. construct a hypothesis that is testable.
3. identify all variables in your investigation.
4. state the assumption and limitations of your investigation.
5. state the materials and apparatus needed to support the testing of the hypothesis.
6. propose a research method that will enable the investigation to be carried out.
7. show evidence of trial experiment.
8. demonstrate creative thinking skills in the design of your investigation.
